The Vela is a reverse-style thinning scissor with its thinning blade on the back, which will be closest to the head. It can be used as a traditional thinner without any issue and similar designs have been used for years in the same way. The benefits of this style of scissor lie in its classic cutting roots. Old School or Classic barbers have used this style of scissor successfully as it allows you to lift the hair with the cutting blade and soften the hair ends, which means it assists in the finishing of pompadours and executive contours with ease. It has a modern Japanese thinning blade on the rear which is key to finishing and refining a fade cut. The design of the blade means its reduces hair at 15% per cutting stroke and has our hallmark 3-tooth system on each larger blade tooth.
